With tank top season quickly coming, Anson is back this week with 2 more tips to help us get leaner by summer. If your beach body isn't ready for the boardwalk, here are some simple ways to help you get the body you always wanted.
Tip #1 Easy on the Salt
The FDA recommends that individuals consume no more than 2,300mg of sodium daily. The average American consumes roughly 3,300 mg of sodium a day. Our body's essential requirement is 180-500mg of sodium per day, which is enough to maintain normal bodily functions. Consuming more than the essential requirement can leave you looking bloated and feeling heavy. Reducing salt intake to a level well below the FDA's recommendation will cause you to shed water weight. This will leave you looking leaner and more toned, especially in places such as the face and midsection.
Tip #2 No Sweets
Added sugar not only slows down your metabolism, it aids with fat storage. It is a leading cause of diabetes and other metabolic diseases later in life. If that's not reason enough to leave sugar out of your diet, just keep in mind that sugar wreaks havoc on your skin. Replace added sugar with natural sugars like fruits and honey. In as little as two weeks, these substitutions can cause noticeable improvements in body composition and skin complexion.
Here are some sugary foods to avoid:
White Bread, white pasta, sweet drinks (orange juice, sodas, lattes), and sugary cereals and sweetened granola bars
Some healthier alternatives:
Whole grain bread and whole grain pasta instead of white bread and white pasta, water instead of sweet drinks, raw granola or oatmeal instead of sugary cereal or power bars.
